Artist Profile

Takahiro Fujii
Born in Kamakura in 1980, he grew up in Nagano until his high school years. He started chorus at the age of 6 and oboe at the age of 13. He graduated from Suzaka High School and Tokyo University of the Arts, Faculty of Music, Department of Instrumental Music, majoring in oboe. He studied oboe under Wakui Jin, Obata Yoshiaki, Matsuyama Atsuko, and Kobayashi Yutaka, baroque oboe under Sannomiya Masamitsu and Ozaki Atsuko, and conducting under Murakata Chiyuki. He was invited to perform a concerto with the Giorgi Enesco Philharmonic Orchestra (Romania) during his time at university, and was invited as guest principal with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, Gunma Symphony Orchestra, Kyoto Symphony Orchestra, and Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra. He has participated in the regular concerts and recordings of Bach Collegium Japan as a soloist in Orquesta Typica led by bandoneonist Ryota Komatsu, and as a solo English horn player in the Asia-Europe tours of the Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra, and has participated regularly in regular concerts. He is an oboist in the Hyogo Performing Arts Center Orchestra, and has performed concertos as a soloist at regular concerts. In chamber music, he has performed with Toru Yasunaga, Shigenori Kudo, and H. Schellenberger. He also launched his own project, "Sweet Classic," which has held concerts all over the country, and in 2011 he held his 10th commemorative recital tour with pianist M. Veit, which was well received. In 2009, he was invited by H. Schellenberger to travel to Germany and continue his studies under him. He is active in various places, mainly focusing on chamber music, and has participated in the Jewish Chamber Orchestra Munich, the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra (Israel), the Tirol Music Festival, the Vatican International Music Festival, etc. In Japan, he presides over the Klassische Philharmonie Kansai and Musikkapell Nagano. He is a member of the Dresden Bach Soloists and the Ensemble Hansberger. He lives in Oberaudorf, Bavaria, Germany.

Jun Hayakawa
In 2022, he won the International Bandoneon Competition held in Sardinia, Italy, and also won the Audience Award. He also won the International Accordion Competition (Klingenthal) in 2012 and 2013. He graduated from the Department of Musicology, Faculty of Music, Tokyo University of the Arts. He unanimously won the Jazz DEM at the Conservatoire de Gennevilliers. He presides over the neo-tango unit "Tango-jack", the project "HAYAKAWA TERUGGI TRIO" that embodies the artistry of tango, and "ABIERTO", which develops free performances without being bound by genre. He is a regular member of "Naruyoshi Kikuchi and Pepe Tormento Ascaral". He has studied bandoneon under Ryota Komatsu, Yuzo Nishito, Miguel Barbero, and Juan Jose Mossarini. He has participated in Japan tours of tango legends, including tango heavyweight Leopoldo Federico. He has performed overseas in South America, including Argentina and Brazil; Europe, including France and Spain; and Asia, including Hong Kong and Korea. In 2009, he was introduced as a rare bandoneon player in Japan on the NHK music program "Doremifa Wonderland." In 2011, he was selected as a finalist for the Cafe Tango Music Award held in Stuttgart, Germany. From 2013, he was based in Paris and performed mainly in Europe for two years. He returned to Japan in 2015 and has continued to be involved in the European tango scene to this day. In 2014, he established LOCO Planning (now an NPO). He has been planning performances with attractive content, including the "Bandoneon Feast" and "Tango no Soul" Japan tours held in 2017. His Bandoneon Solo Project, which began in 2017, has been well received, touring all over the country and conveying the charm of the bandoneon, which goes beyond tango. In 2018, he also embarked on a solo tour of five locations in Europe. In 2020, he discovered motorbikes and began using them for concert tours around the country. In 2021, he appeared as a bandoneon player in a performance of Astor Piazzolla's operetta "María di Buenos Aires," the first faithful reproduction of the original in Japan. Under the tutelage of Mossarini, he has added delicate expression to his natural powerful playing style. Currently based in Japan, he continues to explore new possibilities for the bandoneon and tango in his own unique style.
